The lighting in my kitchen leaves much to be desired. The room is "L" shaped but with only one lone ceiling fixture on one side of the room. Using some parts of the kitchen after dark was all but impossible. I needed to add some task and accent lighting. Of course I could just go and buy some led fixtures for under the cabinets and call it good, but that wouldn't be as fun. Here I'll be detailing the work I've put in to add more useful lighting to my kitchen. It is desired that all lighting will be controllable by whatever home automation controller I am using at any given time, right now I'm on the Home Assistant train.
First point of order is to get some task lighting on the counters. I have smart lighting throughout my home, so I want to have lighting that I can adjust color and temperature. After that I'll add some lighting above the cabinets to give the kitchen a little more color.
I wanted to have both RGB and adjustable color temperature for the lighting here. I decided to combine some RGB-CCT LED strips with some diffuser channel and zigbee drivers.
